July 18, 2018 - 86 criminal law scholars from around the country visited Cardozo July 16 and 17 for Crimfest! 2018, an annual gathering of criminal law and procedure scholars. Professor Jessica Roth, who helped organize the event, said it has “become a centerpiece of the criminal law scholarly community.”
The event included 23 panels over the course of two days. Cardozo faculty members Jessica Roth, Kyron Huigens, Kendea Johnson and Ekow Yankah, served as panel presenters and moderators for some of the workshops.
Panels covered a wide range of topics within criminal law and procedure: Technology and the Criminal Justice System, Gender and the Criminal Justice System, and Post-Conviction Process, were among the choices.
“CrimFest! 2018 was a terrific success,” said Professor Jessica Roth. “Cardozo Law School hosted this event for the third time. We ran 23 panels over the course of two days, with two panels running simultaneously and in some cases, a third. Scholars gave one another feedback on their works in progress, shared novel ideas for teaching, and celebrated the legacy of Professor Dan Markel, who before his untimely death in 2014 co-founded CrimFest! with Professor Carissa Byrne Hessick of University of North Carolina School of Law.”
